1. Adjectives are invariable:

(Sıfatlar değişmez )

They do not change their form depending on the gender or number of the noun.

(İsmin sayısına ve cinsiyetine bağlı olarak yapıları değişmez.)

A hot potato - Some hot potatoes

Sıcak bir patates - Biraz sıcak patates

2. To emphasise or strengthen the meaning of an adjective use 'very' or 'really':

(Bir sıfatın anlamını kuvvetlendirmek ve vurgulamak için 'çok' veya 'gerçekten' ifadelerini kullanabiliriz )

A very hot potato - Some really hot potatoes.

Çok sıcak patates - Gerçekten biraz/bir miktar  

                                     sıcak patates

3. Position of adjectives:

a) Usually in front of a noun: 

 (genellikle bir ismin önünde: )

A beautiful girl.

(Güzel bir kız)

b) After verbs like "to be", "to seem" , "to

look", "to taste":

('to be', 'to seem', 'to look', 'to taste' gibi fiillerden sonra: )

The girl is beautiful.

(Kız güzeldir.)

You look tired.

(Yorgun görünüyorsun.)

This meat tastes funny.

(Bu etin tadı tuhaf.)

c) After the noun: in some fixed expressions:

(Bazı sabit yapılarda isimden sonra)

The Princess Royal

(Kraliyet Prensesi)

The President elect

(Seçilmiş başkan)

a court martial

(adli amir)

the adjectives involved, present, concerned:

(katılmış,mevcut,ilgili/endişeli sıfatları: )

1. I want to see the people involved/concerned 

(Katılan/İlgilenen insanları görmek istiyorum.)

2. Here is a list of the people present.

(İşte mevcut insanların listesi)

Be careful! When these adjectives are used before the noun they have a different meaning:

(Dikkat! Bu sıfatlar isimlerden önce kullanıldığında farklı bir anlama gelir: )

*An involved discussion = detailed, complex

(detaylı, karmaşık tartışma)

*A concerned father = worried, anxious

(endişeli baba)

*The present situation = current, happening now

(mevcut durum)
